Politics is everyone’s business, as my window cleaner reminds me every fortnight. The Bench Report tries to make it less stuffy and more relatable. From PE teacher concerns over playing fields, to holiday-makers' complaints about airport queues, hopefully a topic or two will resonate and spark further interest.

Briefing Notes
The Bench Report uses AI hosts named Asa and Iris (or it might be Ava and Isaac) to analyze parliamentary debates. The best hosts a regular podcast could hope for. Never late, perfect audio, generally on the ball with a few gentle 'prompts'. Disclaimer though, they may get a few names and pronunciations wrong...oh, and if Google wants it, their voices may change periodically. But hey, no-one AI persona is perfect.
However, be aware they are not as outrageously funny as me on this newsletter, so the tone is more conversational, yet serious. I’m serious. AI struggles with a sense of humor.
Hansard, the official record of UK Parliament, serves as the primary source material. I also use reports from Parliamentary Committees that consider and scrutinise government work and the comprehensive resources of the House of Commons Library. That's it…no outside chatter.
